When water levels in New Mexico are normal, the Chama River, running through northern New Mexico near Abiquiu, provides excellent opportunities for rafting and other white water sports. Even with low water levels, sections of the Chama, like this one near Big Eddy, draw the adventurous with fabulous views of mesas and "painted" canyon walls.
